Steffan is on calendar with his neurosurgeon tomorrow (Monday)
afternoon. Anesthesiology has given a
preliminary okay, but they will re-assess tomorrow (they were the ones who put
the kibosh on operating Friday given how his lungs were doing). Doc doing rounds this morning said his lungs
are improved, and his vitals were showing 98% oxygen saturation this morning
compared to 92% on Thursday. Everyone is
hopeful that the surgery will happen tomorrow, but we are also learning to
rein in that hope with a bit of caution, knowing that things can change
minute-by-minute and day-by-day.
Brandon started a photo wall in Steffan’s room today. While it has triggered my eye allergies, it is an improvement to the room. And we
are all looking forward to seeing him laughing and smiling soon.
In other news, the pulmonary specialist today asked Hannah (the
main writer of this blog) and Noël if they were Steffan’s children. Don’t get me wrong, Noël is an attractive and youthful man, but he has more gray hairs on his head that I do (and I started graying at
30).
(I’m on the left, and this photo of us was taken 5 years
ago!!)
So as we await word on Steffan’s surgery tomorrow, we are
also politely inquiring about another pulmonary specialist. ;-)
But seriously, Steffan is in the hands of the world's best practitioners. We continue to trust in them, and hope for a milestone tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!
