Hi. Brandon here. First time blogger, long time reader (groan). Sorry, couldn't resist.
I'd like to begin by thanking everyone for all the calls, emails, texts, cards, DMs, flowers, meals, beverages, etc... Truly means so much to me, and especially Steffan, to hear from all of you. His photo/card wall has been growing daily and I've been reading all of your loving, thoughtful messages to him.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank Hannah, Chris and Amy for all their help with this blog and to give them a day off. Sheesh. They and so many others have been working around the clock to make sure Steffan, Huckleberry, his parents and I are well taken care of these past 2.5 weeks.
Today was a good day at Bed 5 in the ICU. Steffan had his eyes open more often and for longer periods of time. His right arm was really moving today, and I swear it's because he wants that damn breathing tube out of him. His eyes tracked with us, he squeezed our hands, he was moving both sides of his body (albeit his right side is still much stronger than his left), he was making some facial expressions and he even shed a couple tears at the sound of our voices. All really wonderful news (and to witness), and it was the first day I felt like we could really see our beloved Steffan in there. I am hoping tomorrow is even better, and that we can finally attempt extubation. We'll keep you all posted, and thank you again everyone!
Much love,
Brandon, Huckleberry, Larry and Kathy
hearts! X
