Steffan continues to improve. He was communicative this morning with nods, hand waves, and smiles.

He’s completely off the ventilator and practicing with a trach attachment that will let him vocalize. We haven’t heard him do it successfully yet but practice makes perfect.

Once his infections clear (there’s a bacterial and fungal infection now), they’ll explore removing the EVD - which is necessary for him to get out of the ICU. His fevers have continued to stay down so that’s a good sign that the antibiotics are working. Will probably be a couple more weeks before everything is cleared though.

Huckleberry just needs a couple releases signed by docs before he can officially visit. Brandon is workshopping some outfits for him - thinking his fancy bow tie will win out.
